Natural intelligence (NI) is intelligence exhibited by biological entities (such as animals or humans); many definitions are given (in particular in different fields)[citation needed]. A general pattern is that they revolve around a form of synthesizing information. The Oxford English Dictionary defines intelligence as "the ability to learn, understand and think in a logical way about things; the ability to do this well". NI can be contrasted by intelligence exhibited by machines, known as artificial intelligence (AI).
