Naturist Fiction
Naturist fiction, as is Fiction, is a creative work that involves people, places and situations that are imaginary. Some works, also called stories, can play in actual, existing places, which is up to the author. The difference with regular fiction is that some or most characters in these works are portrayed nude, some or all of the time, because naturist fiction refers to Naturism.
Definition[edit]
Naturist fiction is a way to promote, or at least dispel some of the myths that surround naturism, through stories in a variety of genres, such as Fantasy, Science fiction or Historical fiction. Naturist fiction is not a genre in itself.
More in depth, naturist fiction publications are beneficial not only to naturists who want to read about new or imagined contexts for social nudity, but also for non-naturists who may be curious about naturism and its relation to body acceptance, health, spirituality, or any number of further topics. Potentially, the contexts and stories presented through naturist fiction can be engaging to the point of helping convince readers to take the step to explore social nudism in their own lives.[1]
Formats[edit]
Naturist fiction is mainly published in paper book, e-book and audio book format. Due to the, in many countries, sensitive nature of naturism and its display of nudity, other media will only hesitantly adopt the stories, although there are films and stage plays in the naturist fiction format.
Books are a convenient and portable way to introduce a person to naturism, because that way one can enter the naturist world without having to remove one's clothes. Especially E-books are helpful in this, because there is no cover that displays the reader's interest in this specific kind of writing.
History[edit]
Naturist fiction isn't new. In fact, there are naturist novels, films and even plays dating back to the early 1930s.[2]
Lately however, with the emergence of self-publishing, more and more people are able to publish their stories without having to go through the traditional publishers, which opens the door for naturist authors to bring more of their stories, often based on their own experiences, to the general public.
