Nayani

From EverybodyWiki Bios & Wiki

The Nayani is one of the clans in South Asia, like Panjwani, Rajani and Virani, that originated in Indian Gujarat hundreds of years ago. The name refers to the south warrior Kamma Community. In the 18th and 19th centuries, religious conversions took place, primarily to Ismaili, one of the Shia Fiqh of Islam. After 1947, many of the Muslim Nayanis migrated to Pakistan. Today many Nayanis live in Karachi, Sindh, Pakistan.

In the village of Dared in Bhavnagar, Gujarat, India some 70% of the people are called 'Nayani'[citation needed].

There is a suggestion that the names 'Dayani' and 'Nayani' are from the same root[citation needed].

Nayanis also live in Tanzania, East Africa and London, England.
