Nazim Mammadov

Nazim Mammadov – the founder of the Azerbaijani animation – was born in 1934 in Baku. In 1957, he graduated from the State Art College named after Azim Azimzade.[1]

Since 1961, he worked as an animator in "Azerbaijanfilm" studio, and since 1970 he started to work as a director, too. For the first time, he created the five-part cartoon "Beautiful Fatma" (Azerbaijani: Göyçək Fatma) in the Republic of Azerbaijan in 1988.[2]

Nazim Mammadov died on 29 October 2004 in Baku.[3]

An exhibition of more than 50 works by Nazim Mammadov was held in Port Baku Mall in September 2016.[4]
