Neil M. Selfe is a Canadian finance executive, investment banker, and entrepreneur. He is the founder and chief executive officer of INFOR Financial Group Inc., an independent Canadian advisory and investment banking firm.[1]
Education and career
Selfe earned a Bachelor of Arts in commerce from the University of Toronto. He later obtained a law degree from Osgoode Hall Law School at York University.
Selfe began his professional career in accounting with Deloitte in 1986. In 1990, he transitioned to law, joining Osler, Hoskin & Harcourt, where he worked in securities and mergers and acquisitions. Later in 1995, he moved to investment banking at RBC Capital Markets.[1]
In 2003, Selfe moved into asset management and co-founded Diversified Global Asset Management Corp., a hedge fund platform. The firm was acquired by The Carlyle Group in 2007.[1]
After spending almost a decade at GMP Securities,[2] in 2015, Selfe founded INFOR Financial Group Inc., an independent advisory and merchant banking firm based in Canada. That year, INFOR raised over $230 million for INFOR Acquisition Corp., a special-purpose acquisition corporation. INFOR later served as advisor on several major Canadian transactions, including Element Financial Corp.’s acquisition of GE Capital's fleet management business.[3]
In November 2024, INFOR advised CI Financial on its C$4.7 billion privatization by Mubadala Capital, one of the largest cross-border take-private transactions in Canada's asset management sector.[4]
Philanthropy
Selfe joined the foundation board of Holland Bloorview Kids Rehabilitation Hospital in 2012 and served as board chair from 2018 to 2021. He was also cross-appointed to the hospital's board of trustees.[5] He has previously served on the boards of the Centre for Addiction and Mental Health Foundation (CAMH) and The Empire Club of Canada.[6]
