Newport Healthcare, founded in 2008, is a US based behavioral health treatment provider. Comprising Newport Academy, Newport Institute, Center for Families, and PrairieCare, the company residential services, partial hospitalization programs (PHP), and intensive outpatient programs (IOP) for mental health and substance use disorders, as well as psychiatric inpatient services.[1]

Founded as Newport Academy in 2008 in California, Newport Healthcare has grown to include facilities throughout 11 states, including Connecticut, Virginia, North Carolina, Minnesota, Washington, D.C., Utah, Pennsylvania, Georgia, Wisconsin, and Maryland.[2] Newport Healthcare primarily treats teens and young adults with mental health issues such as depression, anxiety, trauma, obsessive compulsive disorder (OCD), PTSD, and mood disorders, and has increased the scope of its offerings to serve the needs of individuals battling addiction.[3][4]

The company offers a range of therapeutic modalities, including cognitive-behavioral therapy (CBT), dialectical behavior therapy (DBT), attachment-based family therapy (ABFT), mindfulness practices, and experiential therapy.[5][6]

Programs are accredited by the Joint Commission[7] and are in-network with most major insurances.[8][9]

Newport Healthcare conducts an annual externally reviewed outcomes study to measure treatment efficacy.[10] In 2022, it opened the Newport Healthcare Center for Research and Innovation to further advance the field of mental health.[11]

Joe Procopio is the CEO of Newport Healthcare.[12]

In 2022, Newport Healthcare acquired Minnesota-based PrairieCare,[13] adding a psychiatric inpatient hospital and 9 new sites.
