Nico Joven T. Waje (born March 21, 1995) is a Filipino journalist. He worked as a field reporter for GMA Integrated News and gained national attention in July 2025 for his on-the-ground coverage of typhoons Crising and Dante.[1]
Early life and education
Waje was born on March 21, 1995. He received a Bachelor of Arts degree in Communication from Adamson University.
Career
Waje began his career at GMA Network as a segment producer in October 2015. He later became a news reporter for GMA Integrated News in October 2019.[2]
In July 2025, his live coverage of the typhoon-affected zones as Typhoons Wipha (Crising) and Francisco (Dante) hit, drew a large following on social media platforms especially TikTok, whose viewers lauded his composed demeanor. He gained nationwide exposure and was branded as a 'reporter-baby' among other names by netizens.[3][4]
Waje has received Anvil Awards recognition during his time as a reporter.
By December 2025, he was no longer connected with GMA Integrated News and was introduced as a former GMA reporter during public appearances. In 2026, he briefly hosted the program Customs Check Pilipinas.[5]

Waje married Leniel Waje, a former GMA colleague, on October 16, 2021.
Legal issues
Journalist Athena Imperial filed cases of lasciviousness and violation of Republic Act 7877 on Gender-Based Sexual Harassment against Waje before the Quezon City City Prosecutor’s office last May 2026.[6]
The two allegations were later followed up with separate similar allegations by a second woman. Waje has submitted a counter-affidavit denying the claims.[7][8]
As of August 2026, the cases remain pending.
