Nikolay Mikhailovich Solomin (Russian: Николай Михайлович Соломин[note 1]; 18 May [O.S. 6 May] 1834, Yaransk, Vyatka Governorate, Russian Empire—6 October [O.S. 24 September] 1882, Yaransk) was a Russian painter and icon painter.
Biography
Nikolay Solomin was born in the county town of Yaransk in a burgher Solomin family. He worked principally on wall oil paintings and frescos. Nikolay was a prominent representative of the provincial icon-painting school of the late 19th century. In 1866, he participated in the interior decoration of the Church of the Intercession in Paderino (now Kiknursky District, Kirov Oblast, Russia).[1]
The painter died on 6 October 1882 in Yaransk, where he was buried at the Voznesenskoye Cemetery.
