Pyotr Mikhailovich Solomin (Russian: Пётр Михайлович Соломин[note 1]; 7 July [O.S. 25 June] 1839, Yaransk, Vyatka Governorate, Russian Empire—18 July [O.S. 6 July] 1871, Yaransk) was a Russian poet and educationist. One of the well-known poets of the Vyatka Land.

Biography[edit]

Pyotr Solomin was born in the county town of Yaransk in a burgher Solomin family. From 1852 to 1857 he studied at the Vyatka Men's Gymnasium. After graduating Solomin was appointed as a teacher of Russian language and literature at Slobodskoy Uyezd School. In 1858, he was approved for the civil service. In 1859, Solomin moved to the Yaransk Uyezd School, where continued teaching till his death.

His selected poems were published in Vyatskie Gubernskie Vedomosti, a largest official newspaper in the Vyatka Governorate.

The poet died on 18 July 1871 in Yaransk, where he was buried at the Voznesenskoye Cemetery.
