Nimu Spacecat (or just Nimu), is an Argentinian VTuber and streamer, whose content is mainly based on chats and reactions withhin subscribers, and, in lesser extent, video game streaming. She is recognized for being one of the non-japanese vtubers with most subscriptors[1][2] and the first Latin American vtuber to reach one million subscribers on YouTube.[3][4]

The avatar consists of a purple "space cat" named Nimu, "attached" to the head of a girl named Centi, although the character and the vtuber as a whole is just referred as Nimu.

Carreer[edit]

Her Facebook page was created on October 16, 2019, and she joined Instagram on February 14, 2020. Meanwhile, her Twitter account was created later in April 2020, with her first tweet posted on April 23. She debuted on February 13, 2020 on Facebook. In April 2021, Nimu makes her first stream on Twitch, ditching Facebook as a streaming platform and changing her format from streams to reactions.

Nimu has renewed the avatar design three times, on January 21 and September 15, 2021, the latter being designed and developed by TheArtGun (aka Pipu Productions), and whose broadcast on that date reached 50,000 viewers.[citation needed] On March 8, 2022, she again renewed her avatar, this being an updated version of the first one.[citation needed]

Milestones[edit]

At the beginning of August 2020, her YouTube channel surpassed a group of VTubers called "Coloratura - Youtubers Virtuales" in subscribers and also accumulated close to 250 thousand followers on Facebook, becoming the VTuber with the most subscribers in all of Latin America. By September, Nimu became the first Spanish-speaking VTuber to enter the top 50 most subscribed non-Japanese VTubers.[5]

By July 2021, Nimu reaches 500 thousand followers on Twicth, while in September it reaches one million followers on said platform, as well as on TikTok. By November 2021, her YouTube channel reaches one million subscribers, being the first Latin American vtuber to do so;[3][5] At the end of December, Nimu receives the Gold Creator Award for having reached this goal.[citation needed]

In May 2022, Nimu was invited to Twitch Rivals 2022, held in Barcelona, where she attended by showing herself to the public with a hood.[6]

Recognitions[edit]

Nimu Spacecat has been nominated for the Martín Fierro Awards (digital) 2021.[7]
