Nirmalya Sengupta (born 16 August 1990) is a famous stage comedy performer, writer, and Facebook celebrity.
Writing career
Nirmalya Sengupta was born in 1990 in Kolkata. He studied in Dum Dum K.K. Hindu Academy and Jadavpur University. He studied Computer Science from West Bengal University of Technology. After graduating, Nirmalya worked as a professor at Techno India University and Regent Education and Research Foundation. Nirmalya's first short story 'Lighter' was published in Unish-Kuri magazine in 2011. His stories were published in many well-known Bengali magazines like Sananda, Anandamela, Kalpabiswa[1] and Desh.[2] He also wrote for Rosebase magazine, edited by Facebook celebrity Prashanta Bhattacharya.[3]
Social activities
He spent his childhood at Nagerbazar and grew up in a revolutionary atmosphere with a strong libido. While teaching Python programming language to his female students[4] Nirmalya's own python became aroused several times. He supported numerous Bengali migrant labourers as well as sex workers through E-Paper publication and crowdfunding during the COVID-19 pandemic in West Bengal with great thriller author Palash Haque[5] and social worker Swarnava Dey.[6][7][8] Nirmalya Sengupta was seriously involved with the 'No Vote to BJP' movement before the 2021 West Bengal Legislative Assembly election.[9] Nirmalya became a celebrity after a public interaction with legendary Chaddi queen Mittir Masi (Kangana Ranaut of Bengal).[10]
Controversy
Nirmalya Sengupta made adverse comments against Bengali actress Parno Mittra on a social networking site but soon regretted the issue. On 24 August 2021, Disha Ghosh, a trekker & Nurse at PG Hospital, made an explosive complaint in a Facebook post.[11] She filed an FIR against Sengupta[12] at Survey Park police station[13] and stated that on the night of 21 August 2021, Nirmalya Sengupta first molested her at Joshimath, a city in Uttarakhand, and later severely injured her eyes. [14] When asked about the allegations by Disha, Nirmalya told the media that he had not been arrested and could not say anything without instructions from his lawyer.[9][15] He wrote a letter to the Association for Protection of Democratic Rights (APDR), arguing for his innocence while eating Dhosa.[16] Following this allegation, a series of molestation complaints began to be submitted on Facebook. A separate Facebook trial was initiated against his friend Sayantan Bhattacharya, who is now testifying against Nirmalya. All his close associates on Facebook like writer Soumit Deb, actor Sk. Sahebul Haque, and Doctor Bokom Buno distanced themselves from Nirmalya after this incident, but Nirmalya continues to eat Dhosa recklessly. A group of supporters led by Ganjikasebi Dharmapal[17] demonstrated on 3 September 2021 at the police station to protest police inaction regarding the complaint.[18] Based on the allegation, Chapakhana Publishers decided not to publish Nirmalya's books further.[19] As of the latest news, psychologist Amit Kanna Dey is reportedly crying in a public social media post, stating that Nirmalya is absconded.
