Nishant Dahiya (born 4 January) is an Indian film actor and model who works in the Hindi film industry. He has worked as a model before beginning his film career. He debuted in the movie Mujhse Fraaandship Karoge with the Y-Films, a subsidiary of the Yash Raj Films, as an actor.[1].

Early Life[edit]

Born in Mhow, Madhya Pradesh, to Retd. Col. Rajendra Singh Dahiya, an Indian army officer, and Urmila Dahiya, a homemaker, Nishant is the younger sibling with an older brother, Prashant Dahiya, also an army officer. He wanted to be an army officer too but his mother didn't approve of it. His family originally hails from Sonipat, Haryana, and has lived in Gwalior, Madhya Pradesh, and Siliguri, West Bengal, and various other parts of India because of his father's postings. Eventually, his family settled in New Delhi. He pursued B.Tech. in Computer Science and Engineering from Kurukshetra University, Haryana.[2]

He is fond of animals, especially dogs, and has quite a few of them as pets. He is ardently devoted to bodybuilding. He is an avid follower of the Premier League.

Career[edit]

Nishant auditioned for Grasim Mr. India (2006) and ended up as the first runner up. Moreover, he won the titles, The Best Smile and Mr. Photogenic in the pageant. Thereafter, he moved to Mumbai and started modeling for various brands such as Tanishq, Ponds, GQ Style, and Levis. He also appeared in a lot of advertisements like Mistair (a Siyarams sub-brand) and Tanishq. After his first film, Mujhse Fraaandship Karoge (2011) with YRF, he was seen in Titoo MBA (2014), Meri Pyaari Bindu (2017), and Kedarnath (2018).

He featured in a song, I DO, by Shannon K that released in March 2020[3]

Currently, Nishant will be playing the role of the Indian cricketer, Roger Binny, in the upcoming Indian sports drama film, 83, directed by Kabir Khan, to be released on 10 April 2020[4][5][6][7]. The actor underwent rigorous training in order to hone his cricketing skills to grasp the nuance of his character[8]. The movie, 83, is one of the most awaited movies of 2020.
