Nitzan Shapira (Script error: The function "langx" does not exist.; born 1987 or 1988)[1] is an Israeli software engineer and technology entrepreneur. He is the co-founder and chief executive officer of Harmony, a company developing artificial-intelligence agents for IT and employee service management, and was previously the co-founder and CEO of Epsagon, a cloud application monitoring company acquired by Cisco in 2021.[2][3]
Early life and education
Shapira served in a technological unit of the Israeli Military Intelligence Directorate.[1] He studied computer science at the Technion – Israel Institute of Technology.[4]
Career
Epsagon
In 2017 Shapira co-founded Epsagon with Ran Ribenzaft, serving as its chief executive officer.[5][2] The company, based in Tel Aviv and later also headquartered in New York, developed automated distributed tracing and monitoring for serverless computing applications and, from 2019, for container and microservice-based environments.[1][6][7]
Epsagon raised a US$4.1 million seed round in March 2018 from Lightspeed Venture Partners and StageOne Ventures,[8][9][10] a US$16 million Series A led by U.S. Venture Partners in January 2020,[11] and a US$10 million extension led by DTCP in July 2020, bringing total funding to US$30 million.[12] In interviews Shapira described the company's aim as making application monitoring "as automated as possible" for development teams.[11]
In August 2021 Cisco announced its intention to acquire Epsagon; the price was not disclosed by Cisco, and was reported by Globes as approximately US$500 million.[2][7][13] At the time the company had about 60 employees.[2] The transaction closed in October 2021, and Shapira joined Cisco.[14][15] The Technion's computer science department described the sale as Cisco's second-largest acquisition in Israel.[4]
Harmony
In 2025 Shapira and Ribenzaft founded Harmony, with offices in Tel Aviv and New York.[3] The company develops AI agents that handle employee IT and HR requests inside workplace messaging tools such as Slack and Microsoft Teams.[3] In July 2026 the company announced a US$34 million seed round led by Lightspeed with participation from Hitachi Ventures, Fin Capital, Mercer Ventures and Operator Partners.[3][16] Shapira serves as chief executive officer.[3]
