Norrhydro Ltd is a company that has been manufacturing hydraulic cylinders for more than 30 years. The company has specialized in designing, manufacturing and maintenance of hydraulic cylinders for many different application areas. Norrhydro Oy has developed the digital hydraulic system NorrDigi ™ in cooperation with the University of Tampere and Volvo CE. The system increases productivity while significantly cutting fuel costs and CO2 emissions in earthmoving machinery.[4] When the new solution is widely deployed in the civil engineering industry, it will help the industry achieve its sustainability goals while improving machine performance. Norrhydro Oy has launched a project for a new production facility of approximately EUR 15 million, which will enable the doubling of production capacity when all planned investments in machinery have been made. In the first phase of the project, production capacity will increase by 30% and CO2 emissions will be reduced by up to 20% per year compared to the current production plant. The new production plant will be built on a site in Rovaniemi's new industrial area and is scheduled for completion in spring 2022. - 1985 - Norrhydro was founded by fifteen employees of the former Rova-Tekno Ky, who bought Rova-Tekno's business and machinery in equal shares. In the early years, in addition to hydraulic cylinders, the company also manufactured hoists and hoist grabs for the forest and mining industries.
- 1990s - Exports expanded in addition to Sweden, e.g. Norway, Germany and Canada.
- 1995 - The company received the Iso 9001 quality certificate as one of the first companies in the field in Finland.
- 2000s - The company focused on cylinder manufacturing and divested its hoist business.
- 2007 - Change of ownership, as Yrjö Trög, Chairman of the Board of Norrhydro, and four other Norrhydro employees bought the company. At that time, a new growth strategy was also drawn up.
- 2008 - The company introduces a patented NorrDigiTM system, its revolutionary technology will provide energy savings for hydraulic machines.[8]
