Okeanos is an American multinational corporation that develops technology to create stone-based sustainable packaging, made from calcium carbonate and a smaller percentage of biodegradable or recyclable resin, aimed to at reducing the global plastic pollution through source reduction.[1]

The company – headquartered in Miami Beach, Florida, US – has established joint venture partnerships with plastic compounders and plastic industry manufacturers in regions of the world that contribute the most to global plastic pollution, including the Middle East, Latin America, Southeast Asia, India and Bangladesh. [2][3]
Okeanos was founded in 2019 by orthopedic surgeon Dr. Russell Petrie[4] and Florencio Cuétara, CEO of the Cuétara family food businesses.
Currently the company has a presence in 15 countries.[5]
The company manufactures plastic alternatives which are made from stone.[6]
In 2021, Okeanos opened the Okeanos Innovation Center, the company's research and development hub located in the Greater Cincinnati area under the direction of VP of Innovation, Mary Lehrter.[7]
