Oliver Maloba aka Oli is a Kenyan attacking midfielder turning out for Kenyan National Super League side Nairobi City Stars.
He joined City Stars in the Kenyan Premier League from Vapor Sports at the start of 2016 [1] where he became a revelation. [2] leading to a Kenya U20 call up [3]
Despite the team being relegated [4] at the end of the year he was nominated alongside five players for the Kenyan Premier League New Player of the Year Award. [5] [6] [7] [8]
He left the Kawangware based club to join Kenyan Premier League champions Gor Mahia at the onset of year 2017 on a three-year [9]. He had been on the watch of Coastal outfit Bandari F.C. (Kenya)[10] before being snapped up by Gor.
Entry to Gor meant instant trophies as, starting in March of 2017, he was part of the squad that beat Tusker 1-0 to win the 2017 Kenyan Super Cup [11]. At the end of the year he was a league champion as Gor reclaimed the title.
In June 2017 he scored once to lead Gor Mahia to the SportPesa Super Cup in Dar Es Salaam, Tanzania with an emphatic 3-0 win over arch-rivals AFC Leopards that earned the team a date with English Premiership side Everton F.C. [12] [13]
The next month he featured against the Toffees as a second half substitute as Gor lost the game 2-1 in Tanzania. [14] [15]
In December 2017, while still at Gor, Maloba traveled to the Czech Republic to attend trials at FC Slovácko. [16]
In July 2018 he crossed over to Tusker FC [17] and at the close of the same year he was back at City Stars to help the side survive relegation in the transitional 2018/19 season.
He is currently key to Coach Sanjin Alagic’s promotion plan in the 2019/20 Kenyan National Super League season that kicked off in September 2019.
