Orabi is a station on Line 1 of the Cairo Metro. It is located in central Cairo, Egypt, beneath Orabi Street near the intersection with Ramses Street. The station serves the densely populated district of Downtown Cairo and is named after Egyptian nationalist leader Ahmed Urabi.
History
Orabi station was inaugurated in 1987 as part of the second phase of Cairo Metro Line 1, the first metro system in Africa and the Arab world. The station was constructed as part of the line extending from Helwan in the south to El-Marg in the north.
Layout
Orabi is an underground station with two side platforms serving two tracks. It features standard metro facilities including electronic ticket barriers, escalators, elevators for accessibility, and passenger information systems.
Location
