After suffering an on-set pelvic injury, then-Hollywood stuntman Mike Smith claims to have gone through a "spiritual awakening", which led him to believe that the entertainment industry was operated by "Luciferians".[3]
Release[edit]
Out of Shadows was officially released to YouTube in April 2020.[4] Despite its high view count, Out of Shadows was never featured on Youtube's "trending" section[4] because the company operated a policy of demoting Pizzagate-related videos and removing them from recommendations.[5]
The video gained over a million views within 24 hours of its release,[6] and amassed 10 million views after 2 weeks.[7] It had almost 20 million by mid-2020, when the channel which uploaded the video was taken off the site for violating community bullying and harassment guidelines.[8]

Reception[edit]
The film was harshly criticized for its promotion of various conspiracy theories, such as QAnon and Pizzagate,[9] its accusations of satanism against Serbian artist Marina Abramović,[10][11] and its labeling of Katy Perry's and Lady Gaga's music videos as "propaganda".[12] It was also accused of making various "super out-there claims"[13] and of being financed by right-wingers.[14]
Despite this, the film gained a positive reaction among many online users, being translated into various languages and giving it a base of followers.[15] Jo Rae Perkins, a then-senate candidate, promoted the documentary via Twitter.[16]
