History[edit]

Stuart Webster created his YouTube channel on October 28, 2006[2]. He first started under the name "Webzwithaz" but later changed it to OverSimplified, which it is still called today.[2] He uploaded his first YouTube video on October 21, 2016 and it was titled WW1 - OverSimplified (Part 1).[2]

Controversy[edit]

In 2017, the Hitler - OverSimplified videos were marked as offensive and blocked in parts of Europe due to legal claims by a unknown party.[2] He explained that he was going to dispute the claim.[4] Since then, YouTube has removed the offensive classification and restored monetization to the videos, but they still remain blocked in certain countries. These were the only videos blocked in certain countries.

This censorship has since been used to say in his NordVPN sponsors, "Are there some OverSimplified videos that are STILL blocked in your country?"
