PCJ Radio (PCJ) is a private international radio station and syndicator and relay service founded in 2008 and based in Taipei, producing and transmitting programmes for local and international audiences. PCJ has also distributed content via web technology since 2009. The station was founded by Canadian-born announcer and producer Keith Perron.

As of 2019, the station distributes the following programs to partner stations and via internet:

Produced by PCJ:

  • Focus Asia Pacific, a topical news program on public affairs in Asia and Oceania
  • Jazz for the Asking, a jazz music program
  • Best of Media Network Plus, a program of news about the broadcasting industry (repeats, production of new episodes ended in 2018)
  • The Happy Station Show, a revival of the Sunday light entertainment program which first aired in 1928 on PCJJ and later Radio Netherlands

Programs from other producers:

  • Nash Holos, weekly bilingual variety show featuring current and traditional Ukrainian music, presented by Paulette Demchuk MacQuarrie
  • The Stuph File, interviews and offbeat news, presented by Peter Anthony Holder, reporter for Montreal Global News
  • The Kelly Alexander Show, entertainment and features "for the wants and needs of today's women"
  • Switzerland in Sound, hosted by former Swiss Radio International presenter Bob Zanotti

Transmission and syndication[edit]

In Taiwan, PCJ operates an FM station broadcasting at 95.5 MHz for the Taipei area presenting its own programs and relaying programs from Radio Australia and the BBC World Service.

PCJ transmits programs to Asia via shortwave radio, leasing time from the former Deutsche Welle transmitter site in Trincomalee, Sri Lanka.[1][dead link] It also has conducted test transmissions to North America and Europe using facilities in the United States and Germany.

In 2014, PCJ launched an international shortwave relay service based at a shortwave transmitter that it had constructed in Taiwan.

PCJ syndicates programs to these partner stations:

  • United States: WRMI,[2] WAZU
  • New Zealand: "World FM" 88.2 LPFM in Tawa
  • United Kingdom: World Radio Network

The name "PCJ Radio" is a tribute to the pioneering shortwave station PCJJ, a precursor of long-time shortwave broadcaster Radio Nederland Wereldomroep. The Happy Station Show aired on those two stations from 1928 to 1995.
