Duncan Ryunosuke Pain (Japanese: ペイン・ダンカン・龍之介; born 2 February 1985), also known as PDR-san, is an English-Japanese YouTuber. He is known primarily for his sarcastic humour, sketches, and videos about Japanese Internet culture.[1][2]
Pain began his Japanese-language channel PDRさん (anglicised as PDR-san)[3] in 2011, which passed 1 million subscribers in March 2019.[4] He has over five additional YouTube channels.[5][6] All Japanese videos are subtitled in English, and all English videos are subtitled in Japanese.[7][8]
Early life[edit]
Pain was born in Chiba Prefecture to an English father and a Japanese mother.[4] He spent his childhood and attended school in Norwich, England. He has two younger brothers Dante and Mikhail.[9] The family moved back to Japan when Pain was 13 where he completed his secondary education at Kashiwa Municipal High School.[10] He often speaks about being biracial in Japan.
Personal life[edit]
Pain married New Zealand YouTuber mononymously known as Mimei in 2014. They live in Tokyo with their daughter (b. 2021).[11] They have two cats and one dog.[12]
