Pakistan Airways was a short-lived cargo airline based at Jinnah International Airport, Karachi, Sindh, Pakistan. The airline was operational from 2005 to 2006, using a single Ilyushin IL-76 cargo aircraft for flights between Pakistan and Dubai.[1] Air Support Technologies Pakistan (AST PAKISTAN) was the parent company and formed in 2001 in Lahore Pakistan. It was also registered in UAE with offices at Fujairah International Airport & Dubai International Terminal 2 from 2004 with the same name AST PAKISTAN. In May 2006, award 002/2006, a license to operate non-scheduled international charter flights, domestic and international, was granted from Pakistan. Successfully operated AN 12 flights on the Dubai–Peshawar–Karachi–Dubai sector three times a week. Also operated many flights from UAE to IRAQ for the US Army OshKosh Trucks, USA Royal Engineers. Also provided base to base transport to international forces with IL 76 TD and AN 12 Aircraft. The company also operated from Pakistan to Afghanistan for ISAF forces with IL 76 TD in 2008 and 2009 from Dubai to Kabul and many other airfields as a contractual charter. Operated several flights during the TSUNAMI from a UAE base to Indonesia and provided flights in Pakistan during the earthquake, relief flights from different EU countries and UAE to Islamabad by operating IL 76 TD, A300F, and B707-200, which was leased from First International Airlines Ostend Belgium. The non-schedule license of AST PAKISTAN AIRWAYS was delayed when they announced Hajj Flights in 2006 and booked thousands of people due to lower fares with PIA and other carriers. The license was restored and renewed after 8 months. It was again suspended and a show cause notice was issued to the company when their travel agency license no. 3722/06 Lahore was announced with collaboration of Aero Vista Airlines of UAE to give cheap chartered flights on EID holidays by Aero Vista to Pakistani labor working in UAE just to provide relief. The CAA issued a show cause notice to the parent company, AST PAKISTAN AIRWAYS, in 2007. From that time, AST PAKISTAN AIRWAYS has been under suspension and is now seeking resolution of this issue with CAA PAKISTAN through the Superior Pakistani Court. AST PAKISTAN AIRWAYS, as a Private Limited Company, still provides cargo charter flights worldwide and VIP flights as an authorized representative company on different other call signs with aircraft provisions. It is now a subsidiary company of Treeland Group of Companies Pakistan.
