Pakistan Peacekeeping Mission
Pakistan Peacekeeping Mission (Urdu: پاکستان بحالی امن مہم) is a group of volunteers and a not-for-profit organization which was formed in year 2012 by Farhan Wilayat Butt (a Pakistani peace activist, humanitarian, writer, traveler and theater actor)[1] in Lahore, Pakistan. The main purpose to start this peace-mission was to create peace, unity and brotherhood among all Pakistanis, regardless of their cultural, religious, sectarian and ethnic differences in order to reduce and eliminate religious extremism, sectarian violence and racial intolerance, as well as, for the rights and protection of religious minorities in Pakistan.
Present Activities[edit]
At present, the network of PPM's volunteers is expanded in the areas of Sindh and Punjab, Pakistan, where the volunteers are currently managing and organizing following activities:
- Trips & Tours: Peace-tours to various sacred monuments and pilgrimage areas (associated with different religions).[2]
- Interviews: Interviews of prominent figures among Pakistani minorities.[3]
- Discussion Sessions: Interfaith discussions.
- Theater: The dramatic team of Pakistan Peacekeeping Mission organizes short theater performances for minority groups.
- Charity Funds: Small charity funds for differently abled persons and to provide financial support to senior artists (who are currently facing financial constraints due to some physical illness or unemployment).
- Construction of Water-Wells: Construction of water-wells in interior Sindh (i.e. small villages of Tharparkar, Sindh, Pakistan) where clean water is not available.
