The annual meeting of the Physiological Society of Japan is held in March every year. The first annual meeting was held in 1922 in the School of Medicine at the University of Tokyo.

- In 1922 the Physiological Society of Japan was established.
- In August 2006 the professional society became a limited liability intermediary corporation.
- In March 2009 the Physiological Society of Japan became a general incorporated association.
- On March 29, 2013 the articles of incorporation were amended.

- the 98th Annual Meeting was held online in March 28-30, 2021 by Hideki Tobita and Hikaru Hashitani at Nagoya City University.The Annual Meeting was held with the 126th Annual Meeting of The Japanese Association of Anatomists.
- the 99th Annual Meeting is held in March 16-18, 2022, at Kawauchi-Kita Campus in Tohoku University by Hajime Mushiake at Tohoku University and Satoshi Fujii at Yamagata University.
- the 100th Annual Meeting is held in March 14 to March 16, 2023 at the Kyoto International Conference Center by Tadashi Isa at Kyoto University.
