Plumento Foods
Plumento Foods since 2016) is a German corporation, founded and headquartered in Pforzheim, Germany, that designs and manufactures food products with insect content. It is one of the largest insect food manufacturer in Europe. All food products contain a percentage of insects. Plumento is one of the first companies to legally manufacture and sell insect food. The products are available online and in supermarkets in Germany. Founder Daniel Mohr started the company as a start up with grants by the German government. The company headquarter is located at EMMA Kreativzentrum in Pforzheim.[1] A collective of specuialists from various fields of economy and food production have collaborated to create the products. Since 2018 some products are available at Metro and NX-Food [2] supermarkets throughout Germany and online at Amazon and Lieferello. NX-FOOD has been cooperating since October 2017 with the insect food start-up Plumento Foods to develop foods containing insect proteins. The new EU Regulation No. 2015/2283 on Novel Foods came into effect on 1 January 2018 and lists insects as food for the first time.[3] [4] [5] [6] [7]
