Prince Evillo is a fictional supervillain in the DC Comics universe. He first appeared in Adventure Comics #350 (November 1966).
Fictional character biography[edit]
Evillo is a prince from the planet Tartarus in the 30th century. Tartarus is a perpetually dark world and a well-known haven for criminals. Evillo rules the planet as a dictator, and uses the "evil" he siphons off from the criminals to convert the innocent into criminals as well.
Evillo eventually gathers together a group of villains called "The Devil's Dozen", and sends them out to commit robberies on other planets. Evillo and his henchmen are opposed by the Legion of Super-Heroes; in the ensuing fight, Evillo captures Lightning Lad.[1] With the aid of Star Boy and Dream Girl (disguised as "Sir Prize" and "Miss Terious"), the Legion are able to free Lightning Lad and defeat Prince Evillo.[2]
In Final Crisis: Legion of 3 Worlds #2, Evillo's corpse is reanimated by Mordru to attack members of the Legion. The exact circumstances of his death are undisclosed, but Mordru mentioned that he had called upon those that had died by pain and torture at his hand, indicating that he killed the Prince.[3]
Following Mordru's seeming death at the hands of the Black Witch, Zerox is transformed into a brighter planet. A statue of Evillo and Glorith appear near Mordru's former castle.[4]
Powers and abilities[edit]
Prince Evillo's powers include sorcery and magic, with which he can send people to a Realm of Darkness. He can also grow horns from a bio-energy powered device; the horns give him the power of hypnosis and can emit "dark rays".
In other media[edit]
Television[edit]
- Prince Evillo appears in the Powerless episode "Wayne Dream Team". Here, he is somehow in present day, appearing as a recovering supervillain who as part of his sentence is forced to appear in a 6-hour anti-bullying video.
