Priyanka Reddy was a 26-year-old Veterinary doctor, who was allegedly raped and killed on November 27, 2019.[1]
Significance of the case[edit]
The rape and murder left everyone in shock across the country. Politicians like Rahul Gandhi[2], K. T. Rama Rao, Pawan Kalyan, etc expresses shock over that happened nearby Rajiv Gandhi International Airport.[3] Outrage began across the country to furnish a new set of rules for Rapists.[4] A half-burnt corpse of another rape victim was found nearby, on which police engaged their investigation.[5] Three police personnel of Shamshabad aiport police station were suspended as they delayed in lodging the complaint of missing woman.[6] After their arrest protesters gathered at the Shadnagar police station and protested either to Hang or encounter the culprits.[7]
Early background and personal life[edit]
Priyanka Reddy was born on 1993 to Sridhar Reddy. She pursued degree in a Veterinary college in Rajendra Nagar.[8] She works as an assistant veterinarian at a state-run hospital at Kollur village.[9][10]
The Murder[edit]
Telangana Police Department says: Priyanka reddy had parked her two-wheeler near Tondupally toll plaza which got attention of 2 lorry drivers and their cleaners. They've deflated her two-wheeler's tire in her absence.[11] After returning from her job she noticed the flat tyre and made a call to her sister. Later the accused acted as if they’re helping her and ambushed her into nearby bushes. They sexually assaulted and killed her.[12] Later they drove her body into lorry and burnt her around 2:00 to 2:30am near Shadnagar culvert on Hyderabad Outer Ring road.[13] Police has arrested the four accused based on the evidences gathered from CCTV cameras and Priyanka's mobile.[14]
Judgement[edit]
Magistrate has order the police to move the four accused to judicial custody for 14 days to Cherlapally Central Jail.[15]
