Family and career[edit]
Gangnon is the son of a Romanian envoy of Transylvanian (German) descent who met and married a Canadian housewife while on foreign assignment. Thus Gangnon, who took his mother's surname after graduation from school, spent most of his childhood in Scotland and his youth in Switzerland, Austria, Luxembourg as well as in West-Germany. After school, he left the German-speaking world, completed his medical studies and residency. He first worked for government hospitals and institutions for a long time and is now (2022) a research associate with the network practice Lazar, Seideman, Smith and colleagues caring for patients with rare diseases with a 50% employment. In the second half of his work schedule, he is self-employed as a consultant physician through the pan-European telemedicine provider privateGP. In particular, he does this as a consultant to other physicians caring for patients with rare diseases who rely on a resource of "rare knowledge." Since 2022, Martin Gangnon has also held a teaching professorship at the Jewish University (JUC), primarily for students from Europe.
Employment with LSS[edit]
Until 2022 Gangnon worked also for the international network practice for rare diseases LSS. Professor Dr. Gangnon's task was to review and evaluate new scientific findings and to prepare the essentials as applicable knowledge for his colleagues working clinically at LSS. In recognition of this, he was awarded the title of "Physician of the Year" internally by the professional association IAAT in 2021. He left LSS when the entity was bought by a new owner.
