RL Oceania, formerly known as Rocket League Oceania, is an esports organiser and production company that produces video game competitions in Oceania. Based in Melbourne, Australia, RLO is the largest Rocket League Esports company in Oceania, and the oldest that is still operational.
History
RL Oceania launched in 2016 as the first Oceanic Rocket League Esports community under its previous name Rocket League Oceania. The company began with the open online community run tournament named the RLO 3v3 Series to help serve the region’s growing esports player base.
In 2020, RL Oceania announced its $46,000USD tournament named the RLO Grand Slam sponsored by the game's developer Psyonix.[1][2] The RLO Grand Slam was one of 10 selected tournaments that would be run through Rocket League's "Community Takeover" [3]
On April 25, 2020, RL Oceania made history, with the ANZAC Invitational event becoming the largest open event in the region under the category of "Open Tournaments". The tournament had over 84 teams participating with 286 players.
On June 23, 2020, RL Oceania made history, with breaking the previous largest open event in Oceania, the ANZAC Invitational. The RLO Grand Slam became the largest open event in the region under the category of "Open Tournaments". The tournament had over 94 teams participating with 330 players.
RL Oceania held its 200th event in the tournament series "RLO 2v2 Series" on November 25, 2020. RL Oceania announced that the event would be the final edition of their original "Open Series" events.[4]
RL Oceania announced with publisher Psyonix in September 2020, their path to pro tournament series named the RLO Masters where teams competed in two divisional events named Masters and Open in the game Rocket League[5][6] In March 2021, RL Oceania announced that the event would be taking a break indefinitely.[7]

RL Oceania hosts competitions around Oceania, additionally partnering with the game's publisher Psyonix and multiple others to facilitate hundreds of gaming competitions. RL Oceania competitors are supported on both beginner and professional levels. Some of their more notable competitions include the following:
The Gauntlet
The Gauntlet is a Single Elimination Gauntlet Bracket tournament to showcase the talents of the Top 4 Teams of the Oceanic region. The original season was organised by yumi_cheeseman and had 18 Editions during Season 1. Since Season 2, RL Oceania has been running The Gauntlet, working alongside Yumi during its inaugural season.[8]
Season 3 RL Oceania partners with Gamers Aid for an 8 week season, in an aim to raise funds for Australian fire relief charities.[9]
ANZAC Invitational
ANZAC Invitational is a tournament hosted by RL Oceania and sponsored by Epanai to celebrate and pay respect to the first major military action fought by Australia and New Zealand forces during the First World War, which occurs on Anzac Day. Additionally, this tournament has been made to allow the Oceania Region to prepare for Spring Series Qualifiers in a similar tournament format.[10]
RLO Grand Slam
The RLO Grand Slam is a tournament hosted by RL Oceania and sponsored by Psyonix for the top Oceanic teams.[2][3]
The tournament included an Open Qualifier event that invited qualified teams to the Main Event that included a total of 8 teams.
The teams competed in an AFL Premiership Hybrid Bracket. All matches are a Bo7.
RLO Masters

The RLO Masters is a tournament hosted by RL Oceania and sponsored by Psyonix for the top Oceanic teams.[6]
The league follows a multi divisional format. Division 1 including 16 invited teams that compete in a monthly seasonal league that has a relegation system. Division 2 includes an "open to anyone" format that allows teams to compete in a monthly seasonal league that has a relegation system.
