The RMIT Football Club is an Australian semi-professional soccer club based in the northern Melbourne suburbs.[2] The club was founded in early 2009 by alumni and students of the Royal Melbourne Institute of Technology, colloquially referred to as RMIT University, with support from the university's student welfare administration.
This club does not recognise the original RMIT FC that was formed in 1975 and dissolved in 1995,[3] although both clubs were principally managed very similarly as a sports club of the university. As of 2019, the club fields seniors, reserves and thirds teams for men, and seniors and reserves teams for women, operating under license from Football Federation Victoria.[4]
