Rachid Haz (born October 19, 1992) is a Moroccan mixed martial artist who competes in the lightweight division in the UEA WARRIORS fighting championship.
Biography
Rachid was born in Targa Wassay, Morocco and is the son of Moroccan parents. At the age of 13 he began training K1 and MMA in Las Palmas de Gran Canaria at the Jet Global Club. In 2011 he debuted as a professional Spanish fighter in local events.
In 2018 he fought his first international fight at the M4TC 28 : KO Cancer. That same year he moved to England where for the following 3 years he trained at the SBG. Throughout those years he participated in 3 professional fights with a balance of 2 victories and 1 loss.
"Training for a team that has at least 20 fighters makes you learn new things without you even noticing it. I train with Saul, Davey, Alex, Matt, Martin Stapleton, etc. All really experienced fighters in the UFC, Bellator, Cage Warriors, ACB... Their fighting style is completely different from what I’m used to, they have a very strong striking which helps me develop my skills all day. They have a very aggressive fighting style that makes you increase your intensity for longer periods of time, which makes you have an extra advantage in fights that the big sponsors are looking for. When I moved to England I had some difficulties adapting to this new team as I could barely speak English, making me have difficult times understanding the other fighters. Training for a professional SBG team is not easy, I had lots of confidence in my possibilities but the language barriers were a serious problem. This problem got to such a scale that my trainer Karl (rest in peace) asked me about my motherland, my record etc and I didn’t understand anything. I had really tough times but it was worth it, I’ve been learning English and now the communication with my team is much more fluent."
I started really young, at the age of 13 they opened a kick boxing gym at the park where I used to play football with my friends. They started training at the gym and after a while I joined them. I quickly realized that football wasn't my sport.
I started training with Michel Ortega but sadly a few months later the gym shut down, my trainer went to Juanfran Espino's gym and I joined him there. In this new gym I discovered other fighting modalities and started to combine kick boxing with capoeira with Thiago Martins. One day Thiago gave me a Jiu Jitsu kimono and I started combining my Striking training with floor ones. The rest is history," Rachid told us.
Career
He won the Spanish MMA championship in the 60kg weight last September. It was celebrated in the Spanish city of Bilbao competing for the Canary Island federation and the gym jet global.
In 2015 he was K1 champion after winning 3 fights in the competition at Sevilla. In 2017 he proclaimed NAGA European champion after winning 3 Brazilian jiu jitsu fights at Amiens, France.
In September 2019 he moved to Las Vegas, Nevada where he is training for the Syndicate MMA gym with John Wood. His principal objective is to participate in a UFC fight. His current professional record is 8-1.
