Raffaele Carpino (Caserta, 1969) is an italian guitarist, concert player, researcher and guitar teacher.

Biography[edit]

Born in Caserta, he begins the guitar studies at a early age and graduates brilliantly at the S. Pietro a Majella music Conservatory of Naples. He appears in public for the first time at the age of sixteen. He plays both as a soloist and with important italian and foreign orchestras.

In 1995 he played at the Nervi Hall in Vatican City with the Arcum Orchestra of Rome in the presence of his holiness Pope John Paul II. In 2004 he was inserted in the "Enciclopedia de la Guitarra" by Francisco Herrera and Vincenzo Pocci (Piles Editions - Valencia - España) and in 2008 he was included in the "Dizionario dei chitarristi e liutai italiani" by Benvenuto Terzi and Giacomo Parimbelli. He graduated cum laude in guitar, specialising in interpretation at the S. Pietro a Majella music Conservatory.

He's interested in musics for solo guitar and with guitar of the eighteenth and nineteenth centuries. He collaborates with several italian guitar magazines and writes musicological e historiographical articles linked to the guitar. besides his concert performances, he also holds the teaching guitar activity in academic institutions.

In 2008 he participated in the Franco Margola festival held in Brescia, on the centenary of the composer's birth, overseeing the publication of some important collection of unpublished compositions for guitar, with a study on his work of composition.

He recorded CDs of musics for film for Rai TV and, in world premiere recording, for the Tactus music label, monographic CDs, subsequently presented by Radio France in the programme La Matinale de France Musique and by Rai Radio 3 in the programme Primo Movimento.

He partecipated in international guitar festivals and conventions.
