Ri Djavi Alexandra (30 January 1997 – 19 August 2021) was a Russian-Indian model and actress who was best known for her work in Hindi cinema. She was also known as Ally Ri Djavi in the industry. She rose to fame in India due to her performance in the South Indian horror-comedy film Kanchana 3. Djavi Alexandra died by suicide in a room in Goa in August 2021, aged 24.[1]

Early life[edit]

She was born in Moscow, Russia. She moved to Mumbai to pursue a modelling career. Later she relocated to Chennai, Tamil Nadu for her acting career. Her brother Andrew Ri Djavi is also an actor and model.

Death[edit]

On 19 August 2021, she was found hanging from a ceiling fan at her rented home while the door was locked from inside.[2][3] She was in Goa on a tourist visa and was sharing her apartment with her boyfriend, as per reports.[4] The police officials said that the cause of death in the case is yet to be discovered, considering the autopsy report is pending.[5] The Goa Police contacted the Russian embassy to appoint representatives for the medico-legal formalities.[6][7] The Goa representative of the Russian Consulate in Mumbai, urged the police to conduct a probe into the "possible role" of a Chennai-based photographer into the woman's death who blackmailed her and sought sexual favors in 2019.[8][9][10]

Career[edit]

She started her career with the Tamil movie Kanchana 3 which was directed by Raghava Lawrence.[11][12] She played the role of Rosie who later turns into a ghost to take revenge.

Harassment Incident[edit]

In 2019, Djavi filed a complaint and stated that a Chennai-based photographer allegedly blackmailed her and sought sexual favors.[13][14]
