Obonyo Sedrick (born May 16, 1995), known by his stage name Ricky Sed, is a Ugandan Rapper, Singer and songwriter. He released his single "Motivated" in 2018 with Salvation Muzic Group.
Early Life
Sed was born and raised in Uganda. As a child, Sed had dreams of being a famous rapper, so he began to hone his lyrical skills at the age of 15. In his Ordinary Level, he joined a group of Christian rappers at school known as the Men of Valour that helped to provide a model for how he would begin to do it. "I later decided to give my life to Jesus Christ and accept Him as my personal Saviour" Ricky Sed says.
But upon giving his life to Christ at the age of 17, his focus changed from fortune, fame and women to serving and ministering the Gospel.
Ricky Sed recognized that all of his life should be centered on Christ and he decided to do Christian Hip hop .
Career
Sed's love and passion for music began when he just joined high school. He started up with freestyle with a group of friends at high school in 2012 which helped in improving his rap skills. He picked interest in a Christian Rap group at his High School known as the Men Of Valour that always performed for students at school, He then later decided to join the group since he loved what they do. Ricky Sed started performing in front of the students through this Rap group, this helped build up his confidence, love and passion for music. In 2014, some of the members in the Rap group decided to write and record a track before they parted ways, they recorded a song "Don't Let Me Down" which featured Ricky Sed. They performed this song at the end of 2014 in front of the whole school including Bob Goff and his team that had come to visit the students at school.
In 2015, Ricky Sed moved back to the city for his next level of high school, he continued performing freestyles and some other Christian rap songs for students. He then recorded his first single "Always Changed" that talked about his changing life. He later decided to start a Christian Rap group (Label) called Salvation Muzic Group (SMG) with his best friend Deruve McSun. In 2017 after high school, Ricky Sed and Deruve McSun recorded their first single "My Way" and shot their first music video for the track. They received a lot of positive feedback from social media especially from Facebook which encouraged them to do more music. In 2018, Ricky Sed released his second single "Motivated" and has yet to release more.
