Ringgold Inc is a data services company with its headquarters in Beaverton, Oregon, United States. The company provides organizational identifiers and authoritative data about institutions in the scholarly communications chain to assist the exchange of information throughout the research community, with the focus on data quality, data governance and data discovery.[1] Ringgold Ltd, the company's European operation, is administered in Bristol, United Kingdom.[2]

Ringgold first conceived the Ringgold Identifier (Ringgold ID) in 2002 as an effort to help scholarly publishers identify, disambiguate, and group their institutional subscribers.[3] Ringgold's Identify Database was developed to accommodate the Ringgold ID and now contains more than 400,000 institutional records. [4]

Ringgold acquired Frontline GMS Ltd in 2011 and its CEO Laura Cox joined Ringgold as Vice President of Sales and Marketing.[5]

Ringgold became an ISNI registration agency in 2012.[6]

Ringgold acquired Book News Inc in 2012[7] and added ProtoView to its array of technical products.[8]
