The Rover T.P.90 is a British made gas turboprop aircraft engine manufactured by the Rover Company.[1]

Development

The Rover Company first started the development of gas turbine engines for automobiles in 1949. Years later, the company made gas turbines for APU applications.

United Kingdom

The T.P.90 Turboprop was used in the 1940s British Auster Autocrat and in the DHC Chipmunk.

United States

The first known application of the T.P.90 Turboprop engine in the United States came in early 1980s. Mr. Bert Wilcut located on Stinson Municipal Airport in San Antonio, Texas, installed the engine into his experimental Palomino (aircraft).[2]

This was a conversion of the Rover 1S/60 industrial gas turbine, it was installed and flown in a Curry Wot biplane.[3]
TP.90
A conversion of the Rover 1S/90 unit, it was ultimately approved as a 118hp turboprop unit and was installed in a DHC Chipmunk. Prior to this it had been installed in an Auster Autocrat.[1]
