Swaminathan Konnanadu, also known as S.Konnanadu was a well known art director in Malayalam cinema. He has given the art direction for more than 500 films. He has also directed the movie Surumayitta Kannukal. His last art direction was for the film 'Soudamini' directed by Gopikrishnan.[1]
A native of Kozhikode Westhill, Konnanad and comedian Mamukoya from Kozhikode were close friends. Mamukoya entered the film industry from the theater in 1982. He has acted in the movie Surumayitta Kannukal directed by Konnanad. Vaikom Mohammad Basheer suggested Mamukoya for the film.[2]
Career[edit]
He made his film debut in Ramu Kariyat's Mudiyanaya Putran released in 1961. Konnanadu was then active till 2003 and worked as an art director in more than 500 films in a career spanning for more than four decades. Some of his notable films include Chemmeen, Nirmalyam and Bhargavi Nilayam.
Personal life[edit]
He is survived by his wife Kanagam. The couples have two childrens; son Srikanth and daughter Vichitra.
