Sabda Armandio, commonly called Dio, is an Indonesian writer and novelist. He is considered one of Indonesia's leading young contemporary writers[1], alongside Dea Anugrah and Norman Erikson Pasaribu.

Career[edit]

In 2015, Dio's debut novel Kamu: Cerita yang Tidak Perlu Dipercaya was edited by Dea Anugrah and published by independent Indonesian publisher Moka Media.

Dio's second novel was published in 2017 with the title 24 Jam Bersama Gaspar. A detective story with a hint of humor, this novel was published by Mojok, one of Indonesia's larger independent publishing agencies. The book was shortlisted in the 2016 Jakarta Arts Council Novel Contest[2]. That year, the jury consisted of Bramantio, Seno Gumira Ajidarma, and Zen Hae.

Two years later, in 2019, Dio published his third novel, Dekat dan Nyaring. Seno Gumira Ajidarma praised Dio as a "prosaic as well as poetic" writer. Tempo magazine chose Dekat dan Nyaring as the best prose literary work of 2019[3].

Sabda's book 24 Jam Bersama Gaspar (24 Hours with Gaspar) will be adapted into a film by Visinema Studios and released in studios. It will be directed by Yosep Anggi Noen[4].
