Samuel Mark Vanderpump (born 8 March 1997) is an English former race kart driver, businessman and television personality. He is best known as a main cast member on the E4 reality television series Made in Chelsea.

Early life[edit]

Samuel Mark Vanderpump was born in Camden, London, England on 8 March 1997,[1][2][3][4][5] as the younger of two sons to Mark Jonathan Vanderpump (1959–2018),[6][7] a businessman and DJ,[8] and Simone Denise Vanderpump (née Beasant; born 13[9] November 1969),[10] a former private chef to Prince Andrew, Duke of York and Sarah, Duchess of York, of the British Royal family,[11] and businesswoman.[12][13][14] His elder brother is Jack Daniel Vanderpump (born 19 January 1994),[15] a businessman.[16] He grew up in Loughton, Epping Forrest District, Essex.[17] His parents divorced in 2015.[18][19]

Vanderpump's paternal aunt is Lisa Vanderpump, a businesswoman and television personality, from the Bravo reality televisionseries The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills and Vanderpump Rules;[20][21] her husband, Ken Todd, a businessman and executive producer, is his uncle.[22][23]

Vanderpump attended Epping St John's School; graduating in 2013.[17] He chose not to attended university and began working at the age of 16, as a bricklayer at John Beasant Builders, his maternal grandfather's building company. He also worked at vTunes (UK) Ltd, his parents music business.[24][25][26]

Karting[edit]

Vanderpump made his debut as a race kart driver on 30 October 2005, at the age of 8, during the Hoddesdon Kart Club Summer-Championship.[27][28]

Vanderpump made his final appearance as a race kart driver on 27 June 2009, at the age of 12, during the Formula Kart Stars - Cadet. He came in 10th place and scored 1119 points.[29]

Vanderpump retired in 2010, at the age of 13, after eight appearances.[30]

Businesses[edit]

Vanderpump made his career debut in December 2015, at the age of 18, in the foreign exchange market. He worked as an FX trader at Sovereign International (UK) until November 2017, then as a sales director from January to June 2018.[38]

Vanderpump co-founded Pumpy Music,[39] with his elder brother, in December 2016; dissolved in March 2020. The company had been known as Apollo DJ's until May 2018.[40] The company provided personalised background music for bars, nightclubs and restaurants, with expertly curated playlists and easy to use technology.[39]

Vanderpump co-founded Orbis Exchange Group,[41] a foreign exchange company, with Billy Fuller and Benjamin Simon, in May 2018.[42] He left Orbis on 30 June 2021,[43] after several arguments with his partners,[24] and founded his own foreign exchange company, Vanderpump FX, on the same day.[44][45] He co-founded Crafty Currency, with James Bradley and Ian Duigan, in November 2021; dissolved in January 2024.[46] He is the managing director of Dapio,[47] a software company, holding the position since May 2022.[38] He has a second office in Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates, splitting his time between London.[17] He attended the World Blockchain Summit in November 2022, where he was interviewed about Meta Dapio.[48]

Vanderpump was made a director of Blacks FX in August 2022.[49] He was made a director of PayMob Technology in December 2023.[50]

Podcast[edit]

Vanderpump has been a guest on Aaron Knightley's The Round Table Podcast twice.[51][52] His first episode was released on 8 December 2022.[24][53] His second episode was released on 5 February 2023.[54][55]

Television[edit]

On 3 April 2024, it was announced that Vanderpump would be joining the cast of the E4 structured-reality television series Made in Chelsea for the 27th series as a main cast member.[56][57][58] His casting was confirmed on 4 April, in a news release by Channel 4.[59][60][61] The series will premiere on 15 April 2024.[62][63]

Personal life[edit]

Vanderpump's father died by suicide at his home in Gloucestershire on 30 April 2018, two days after his 59th birthday. He was 21-years-old at the time of his father's death.[64][65][66][67]

Vanderpump resides in Fulham, London,[59] splitting his time between Dubai, United Arab Emirates.[24] He is also known as Vanders.[59]
