Samantha Fieseler (born February 12, 1997) is a Canadian ice hockey defender, currently playing with the Metropolitan Riveters of the National Women's Hockey League (NWHL).
Career[edit]
Fieseler began skating at the age of four. Growing up in Alberta, she would play on boys teams in Red Deer throughout her childhood.[1] At the age of 12, she moved to Kelowna in British Columbia to attend the Pursuit of Excellence Hockey Academy. During high school, she also spent two years with the Warner Hockey School back in Alberta.[2]
From 2014 to 2019, she attended Mercyhurst University in the United States, scoring a total of 38 points in 123 NCAA games. She was redshirted during the 2014-15 season, what would've been her rookie season, after suffering an injury. She scored her first collegiate goal in November 2015, scoring twice against Lindenwood. [3]
After graduating, she signed her first professional contract with Göteborg HC in the Swedish Women's Hockey League (SDHL).[4] She picked up 4 points in 30 games in her rookie SDHL season, as Göteborg managed to save their place in the league by defeating the Malmö Redhawks in the qualification playoffs.
After one year in Sweden, she returned to North America to sign with the NWHL's Metropolitan Riveters for the 2020–21 NWHL season.[5]
International career[edit]
She represented Canada at the 2014 IIHF World Women's U18 Championship, picking up two assists in five games as the country won gold.
