Playing career[edit]

NCAA[edit]

In the 2015-16 NCAA season, Fitzgerald was the starting goaltender for the St. Cloud State University Huskies. She would lead all goaltenders in the WCHA conference in shots faced, appearing in 34 games played. Her final win on home ice at St. Cloud took place on February 12, as she made 39 saves in a win against North Dakota, besting All-America goaltender Shelby Amsley-Benzie.

NWHL[edit]

Fitzgerald’s regular season debut with the Riveters occurred on October 8, 2015 against the defending Isobel Cup champion Boston Pride. On October 16, she would make her first NWHL start, logging 34 saves in a 4-2 loss to the Connecticut Whale.

On November 20, 2016, Fitzgerald gained a shutout in a 4-0 victory against the Connecticut Whale, logging the first shutout in Riveters history.[3]

Fitzgerald participated in the 3rd NWHL All-Star Game.[4] Later in the 2017-18 season, she backstopped the Metropolitan Riveters win the Isobel Cup in a 1-0 victory. This was the first cup for the franchise and a milestone night for Katie as she logged a shutout.
