Samira Jazzy (Samira Rajabli; Azerbaijani: Samirə Rəcəbəli qızı Rəcəbli; born December 1, 1980) — Azerbaijani singer (back vocalist),[1] voice actor,[2] "Simurg" award winner (2021).

Since 1999, he has taken vocal lessons from the composer and teacher Naila Mirmammadli, and between 2004 and 2005 he was one of the soloists of the Kapriz group created by her.

Samira Jazzy is the backing vocalist. Samira's voice can be heard in TV and radio commercials, call centers, documentaries, cartoons, and promotional videos. At the same time, it is the guiding voice of the country's transport sector. Samira Jazzy was awarded the "Simurg" award in December 2021 for her contributions to the development of the spiritual and material culture of Azerbaijan.

Early life[edit]

Samira Jazzy, with her full name, Samira Rajabeli gizi Rajabli, was born on December 1, 1980 in Baku. From childhood, he was distinguished by his sense of music, and started playing the music he heard on the piano.[2]

At the age of 6, he was admitted to the piano class of the Secondary Specialized Music School named after Bulbul. In 1998-2002, he studied English translation at the Faculty of Philology of Azerbaijan International University.[3] During his student years, he participated in cultural mass events of the university. So, first, she performed in the "7 Beauties" project as part of the "Ladies" team, and then she won the national championship 3 times in the "ABU" team of the "Funny and Inventive" club.[2]

Since 1999, he has taken vocal lessons from the composer and teacher Naila Mirmammadli, and between 2004 and 2005 he was one of the soloists of the Kapriz group created by her.[4][5][6]

Samira Jazzy is the backing vocalist.[7] Abbas Bagirov's "New Year is Coming" (Azerbaijani: Yeni il gəlir) (2002), Rufat Mehdiyev's "Land of Fire" (Azerbaijani: Odlar Yurdum) (2003), Elmir Deyirman's "Only Because of You" (Azerbaijani: Tək sənə görə) (2015), Mahir Zeynalov's "I burned" (Azerbaijani: Yandım) (2016), Amil Hasanoglu's "Those Eyes" (Azerbaijani: O gözlər) (2017) , his voice can be heard in the backing vocals of Javid Mammadov's "The Scent of Your Hair" (Azerbaijani: Saçlarının ətri), "One Day" (Azerbaijani: Bir gün) (2019) and Fuad Musayev's "On the shores of the Caspian Sea" (Azerbaijani: Xəzərin sahilində).[2][8][9][10][11][12][13][14][15]

Since 2008, he has been considered one of the recognized voices in dubbing and sounding.[16] Samira's voice can be heard in TV and radio commercials, call centers, documentaries, cartoons, and promotional videos.[17][18] At the same time, it is the guiding voice of the country's transport sector.[2][16][19][20][21]

In 2017, he performed the song "My sun, come" (Azerbaijani: Günəşim, gəl) as a soloist of Coffee Band.[2] In 2018, at the "Jazzeri Bands And Arts" concert program held at the Heydar Aliyev Palace, Cuban musician Yanssel Castellon performed with "Los Amigos" group.[2][22]

In 2019-2020, he voiced the voice of a virtual guide as the host of the "Road Story" (Azerbaijani: Yol əhvalatı) program broadcast on the Azad Azerbaijan TV channel. In 2020, he was the host and author of the "Jazz Time" (Azerbaijani: Caz vaxtı) program on AVTO FM (107.7 FM).[2]

Samira Jazzy performed many covers – "Ports" (Azerbaijani: Limanlar), "Make Me Laugh" (Azerbaijani: Güldür məni) and "Once Again" (Azerbaijani: Bir daha) (duet with Orkhan Bagirov).[23][24][25] Among them, the song "Yellow Roses" (Azerbaijani: Sarı güllər) by the "Karvan" group, which he performed in 2020, brought him the most success.[2][26][27]

In 2020, Samira Rajabli presented the new version of the song "My dear" (Azerbaijani: Əzizim) to the listeners. Rajabli's performance of the song from Eyyub Yagubov's repertoire was accompanied by Elnur Fattahov.[28] The song was played in a new way in this accompaniment and performance. Fans of Eyyub Yagubov, as well as Samira Jazzy, were satisfied with the new way of playing the song.[29] In 2020, together with Orkhan Bagirov, he performed the lyrical song "Age is not that age" (Azerbaijani: Yaş o yaş deyil) from Brilliant Dadashova's repertoire. The duet was performed with the accompaniment of pianist Elvin Faridli.[30]

Samira Rajabli dedicated a music project to the memory of Azerbaijani composer, Honored Art Worker Naili Mirmammadli.[5] In 2021, accompanied by pianist Nijat Gurbanov, the People's Artist of Azerbaijan presented a new version of the song "I Missed You" (Azerbaijani: Darıxmışam) from the repertoire of Zulfiyya Khanbabayeva.[4] The author of the music is Naila Mirmammadli, the lyrics are by Ahmadaga Shahin.[6][31]

In 2020-2021, he was one of the soloists of the "FM Express" group in the second season of the "Fateh's justice" (Azerbaijani: Fatehin divanı) program broadcast on İctimai Television.[2] In 2021, the music of Aytan Ismikhanova releases her first solo song "Be my wing" (English: Qanadım ol) written to the words of Mrs. Ismayilgyzi and the music video for that song.[2][32][33]

At the same time, he performed at the "Jazz Mix" concert program held in the Heydar Aliyev Palace that year.[34][35] Samira Jazzy was awarded the "Simurg" award in December 2021 for her contributions to the development of the spiritual and material culture of Azerbaijan.[36][2]

In 2022, he will leave the duet with Nasimi Mammadov called "I would touch your hand" (Azerbaijani: Toxunaydım əlinə) to the listeners. The authors of this song are composer Vugar Mirzayev and poet Orkhan Murvatli.[37] In 2022, Samira Jazzy performs the song "I look like you" (Azerbaijani: Səni bənzədirəm) by the composer Gunel Alizade. In the clip of the song, the singer played the role of an artist.[38]
