“Sampoorna Rath” (born October 22, 1996) is a sports enthusiast currently pursuing BDS in Odisha, best known for his passion in jersey collection. Till now he has collected more than 200 jerseys of different sports starting from Hockey, Cricket to Football and many more.[1]
Early Life
Sampoorna is a single child born in an upper middle-class Brahmin-Hindu family, in Bhubaneshwar, Odisha. His father, Balunkeswar Rath works in LIC, and his mother, Arati Panda worked as an employee in OPTCL. From a very young age, apart from being good in academics, he dreamt of being a professional cricketer. [1]
Education
Sam, also known as Sampoorna, passed his 10th and 12th standard from Kendriya Vidyalaya No-3, Bhubaneshwar. He is currently in the last year of BDS course and pursuing internship in Institute of Dental Sciences & Sum Hospital in Bhubaneshwar, Odisha, India.
Passion
Sam has a unique hobby of collecting jerseys of players across various sports. He started collecting jerseys since 2013 (age 17). He started with the famous Australian Hockey player Aran Zalewski. It was a Hockey India League match held in Bhubaneshwar. Aran was playing in the Odisha-based franchise, Kalinga Lancers. The dream of becoming a jersey collector began from here. Till date he has around 200 jerseys of players from different sports like Cricket, Football, Hockey, Badminton, Squash, Tennis, Basketball, Athletics etc.
He has a dream of having the record of collecting the highest number of Sports jerseys in Guinness Book Of World Records; also, he wants to build a multi-sports academy and a Sports Museum in the near future.
His friends circle, Dhansu Boys, as they like to call themselves, has been a major support to him in following his unique passion. YouTube Channel: Sampoorna has his own YouTube channel where he interviews Sports Personalities across various fields. The show name is Rapid Fire with Dr.Sam and episodes are uploaded on the channel name SAM TV in YouTube. [2]
