Sandeep Nanduri (born 31 May 1982) is an Indian bureaucrat, civil servant and engineer who is part of the Indian Administrative Service in Tamil Nadu. He is currently serving as the Managing Director to Tamil Nadu Tourism Development Corporation. He has previously served as the District Collector of Tiruvannamalai District.[1]

Early life and education[edit]

Sandeep was born in Hyderabad on 31 May 1982.[2] His father, Madan Mohan, was a retired Indian Police Service officer and his mother Vijayalakshmi is a home maker.[3]

He graduated with a Bachelor of Engineering degree in Electronics and Communication Engineering from Osmania University and Master of Business Administration from Indian Institute of Management Bangalore.[3]

Career[edit]

Nanduri started his career as a sales manager at Hewlett-Packard after his graduation. By the end of 2006, he quit the job for UPSC exam preparation.[4]

Nanduri joined Indian Administrative Service in 2009. In 2011, he was appointed as the Sub Collector of Hosur.

Notable initiatives[edit]

Café-able[edit]

A canteen, which is run by 11 differently able people. The aim of establishing cafe able was to invoke the entrepreneurial spirit and self-sustainability among them. Nanduri also enrolled them in a forty five day training course in cooking and serving. They were also taught efficient customer response, dealing with a crisis, and manage finances. The Cafe Able was founded using Corporate Social Responsibility funds and donations and is set up inside the campus of the District Collectorate.[5][6]

Wall Of Kindness[edit]

Nanduri converted a wall at the collectorate office compound into a ‘Wall of Kindness’.[7]

Thamirabarani River cleanup[edit]

As part of the ‘Mission Clean Thamirabarani’, the removal of Prosopis juliflora trees, pulp, paper, textile, various medium and large scale industries leading to the discharge of untreated effluents and also human and animal wastes began using earth movers at Srivaikuntam in Tuticorin district. Around 10,000 volunteers participated in the Mission Clean Thamirabarani drive carried out on the banks of Thamirabarani river throughout its course of nearly 60 kilometres in Tuticorin district.[8]

The drive aims at cleaning the entire 60 kilometre course of the river running through the district.[9][10][11]

Personal life[edit]

Sandeep is married to Adyasha Parida Nanduri.[17] She is working in Edge Verve Systems, a subsidiary of Infosys. They have a son.[3]
