Sewio Networks is a manufacturer of an Indoor positioning system categorized as real-time location system (RTLS) for intralogistics, manufacturing, retail, sport, entertainment and livestock industries. Sewio system is built on ultra-wide band technology (UWB) and delivered with RTLS Studio, remote management and visualization software.[1]
History
Sewio Networks was founded by Milan Šimek and Lubomír Mráz in Brno, Czech Republic in 2014. Šimek and Mráz met in Brno University of Technology, consequently founding Sewio Networks.[2] The company established its headquarters in South Moravian Innovation Centre. Sewio opened additional offices in Germany and France. In 2015, Forbes Czech Republic reported that Sewio Networks received an investment of 1 million US dollars from Y-Soft Ventures. [3] In 2018, Deloitte Technology Fast 50 Central Europe ranked Sewio Networks as sixth-fastest growing private technology company for a growth of 947%.[4] In the same year, Sewio Networks, along with Brno University of Technology, received the award for the "best industrial research project" by the Technology Agency Czech Republic.[5]
Products
Sewio real-time location system consists of both hardware and software to provide indoor positioning and location analytics. The system is built on TDoA ultra-wideband technology. The products include:
- RTLS Tags (both Piccolino and IMU RFID tags)[6]
- RTLS Anchors[7]
- RTLS Studio[8]
- RTLS TDoA Kits and WiFi kits: ready-to-use, self-sufficient RTLS kit for indoor tracking
- UWB Sniffer: an analyser for debugging precise RTLS and active RFID systems
Projects
Technology partners of Sewio include DecaWave, an Irish fabless semiconductor company that develops ICs and YSoft that provides high capacity production line to Sewio.[9] Other partners include Ars Electronica, Callaghan Innovation, CGI, Capgemini, CYBRA, Dimension Data Czech Republic and Kapsch CarrierCom AG.[10]
- For Volkswagen Slovakia, Sewio along with CEIT, delivered indoor positioning system and support for digital twin in the Volkswagen factory located in Bratislava.[11]
- In partnership with Dimension Data Czech Republic, Sewio deployed UWB based RTLS to track material flow for the end customer Prakab, an energy cable producer.[12]
- Other customers include Toyota, Peugeot, Citroen Automobile Czech, Pirelli and Budweiser Budvar[13]
