Shafi Shouq is a poet, fiction writer and critic. He is the author of over forty-five books in Kashmiri, English, Urdu and Hindi.[1][2]

Shafi Shouq was born to a Kashmiri Muslim family in 1950. He was working as a professor at University of Kashmir. After serving for thirty-three years, Shafi Shouq retired as dean of the faculty of Arts in 2010.[3] He is associated with several national academic projects.[4][5]
