Shant Bajac
Shant Badjaksezian known as Shant Bajac (Arabic: شانت بَجاك, Armenian: Շանթ Պայաք) (born January 24, 1981) is a Lebanese/Armenian musician, composer, songwriter, and guitar teacher. Bajac started his music career at the age of 17 when he joined Thrash Metal band Blaakyum as a guitarist.[1] He then went on to join various Lebanese bands and artists, establishing himself as one of the Arab world's most versatile guitar players, playing rock, metal, blues, funk, pop and oriental music. Bajac has toured with pop stars such as Myriam Fares, Moeen Charif, Maya Diab and Adham Nabulsi. He has also played with artists such as Cynthia Brown, Clarita De Quiroz, Carolina Karam, Cinda Ramseur, Claudia Patrice, and Christina Haddad. His first single, "Dle Yaman", was released in July 2020 featuring Derek Sherinian.[2][3][4]
Biography
Shant Bajac was born in Beirut, Lebanon of Armenian descent on January 24, 1981. He is the second child of Megerdich and Asdghig Badjaksezian. His grandparents were deported to Lebanon by the Ottoman authorities during the Armenian Genocide.
He was inspired to play guitar at the age of 13 while he was in scouts, influenced by his elder brother Vik Bajac who plays bass guitar. He is mainly self-taught.
After a brief spell with Blaakyum, he joined various local rock, metal and pop bands. He then co-founded the first ever Lebanese soul and funk band Soul Sister before touring with prominent Lebanese pop stars, playing in some of the Arab world's most prestigious festivals such as Mawazine in Morocco and Riyadh Season in Saudi Arabia.
He also pursued a career in guitar teaching, employing his best efforts to expose aspiring young musicians to various styles of music.[5]

Shant Bajac is married to Désirée Rizk with whom he has a son, Matteo.
