Taulant Mehmeti

From EverybodyWiki Bios & Wiki

Taulant Mehmeti is a jazz-guitarist from Kosovo, who went from being a refugee, to performing at the most prestigious jazz-clubs alongside some of the most renowned jazz artists from the New York jazz scene.[1]

"Taulant Mehmeti is one of the best young guitarists I have heard in a long time. His playing has great energy and drive and joyful enthusiasm" ~ Peter Bernstein[2]

His journey[edit]

Taulant Mehmeti was born in 1991 in Kosovo. This was a difficult period of time for Kosovars, as a result of tensions and conflict between Serbia and Kosovo.[3] 1991 was the year when all Albanian workers in then Yugoslavia were fired from their jobs, and years later were kicked out of their homes and country in 1999. Taulant and his family sought refuge in Macedonia, where they found it, and remained as refugees until the end of the war.[3]

Studies[edit]

Taulant Mehmeti's first ignition into music, was at a very young age. His older brothers were his inspiration, as a result of them being amateur musicians. One day, his brother Jashar taught him how to play a chord on the guitar. This may very well be the beginning of Taulant's affection towards the guitar. [3]
