Background and release[edit]

After collaborating on "MotorSport"; "She for Keeps" marks the second time Quavo and Minaj have worked together on a song. On July 31, 2017, Minaj posted on Twitter a picture taken from a secret shoot, saying it was for a song whom initials are FK. On October 19, an actress, who plays in the music video for the song as a waitress, answered to a fan asking how was the song via Twitter: "Amazing! I already know it's going to be a big hit. Nicki is very sassy in it and Quavo is rapping to her. It's like a conversation song". On December 6, Quality Control Music’s CEO, Kevin "Coach K" Lee, confirmed that a compilation album featuring Quavo and Minaj was close to release.[5]

Music video[edit]

The official music video was released along the track on December 8, 2017. It is directed by Daps, who previously directed Migos music videos for "Cocoon", "Bad and Boujee", "T-Shirt", "Deadz", "What the Price" and "Slippery".
