Background[edit]

Qari Sheikh Muhammad Khalil Abdul Rahman AlQari' was a Saudi Citizen of Pakistani Origin and an Imam of Al Masjid AlNabawi.

Sheikh Muhammad grew up under the care and guidance of his beloved father Sheikh Khalil AlQari. His older brother, Sheikh Mahmoud Khalil AlQari was also an Imam of Al Masjid AlNabawi.

His Eminence Sheikh Muhammad was born in The City of Makkah AlMukarramah, the 'capital' of Islam, in The Hijri Year of 1386AH, corresponding to the Gregorian Years of 1966 and 1967. [1]

Education[edit]

Sheikh Muhammad was fortunate to have memorised the Quran at the hands of his father, who had taught some of the world's greatest and most well-known reciters, such as Sheikh Mishary AlAfasy, Imam of The Great Mosque in Kuwait City, or Sheikh Ahmad Bin Ali AlHudhayfi, who is currently an active Imam in Al Masjid AlNabawi.[2]

Work[edit]

Sheikh Muhammad Khalil AlQari gained a lot of experience as a teacher of The Recitation of The Quran, first, at The Abi Bin Ka'ab Schools Association, and then, at The Islamic University of AlMadinah. He also taught at The Institute for The Memorization of The Noble Quran at The Imam Muhammad Bin Saud Islamic University in Riyadh.

After gaining experience as a teacher of The Holy Quran in various positions, The Sheikh assumed the role of President for Educational Affairs at The Jam'iyyah AlKhayriyyah, or The Charity and Betterment Association in AlMadinah. He continued as a writer, reciter, and publisher of knowledge throughout his role.

Positions as An Imam[edit]

The Sheikh's distinguished, unique, and beautiful voice allowed his to assume many honourable positions as an Imam (Leader of Prayers) at many mosques throughout his home city of AlMadinah. In The Year of 1407 (Corresponding with 1986AD), he was appointed as The Imam of The Miqat Dhul Hulayfah Mosque, where he maintained his role for a 1.5 years. During this time, he also led prayers at The Diyar Bani Salamah Mosque in AlMadinah.

Shortly after, he was appointed as The Imam of The Qiblatayn Mosque, where he also led prayers for a period of two years. After that period, The Sheikh assumed the long-term role of leading prayers as The Imam of The AlQuba Mosque, the first mosque in the world, which he maintained for thirty years after his appointment in 1409AH.

In Ramadan of 1437, accompanying his brother Sheikh Mahmoud, Sheikh Muhammad was appointed to the Honourable Role of leading prayers at The Prophet's Mosque in AlMadinah. He continued to lead through the year of Ramadan 1438AH, until he was relieved of his duties. The Sheikh developed a sickness shortly after.

The Sheikh continued to, however, lead prayers occasionally at various mosques around the city of Madinah whenever his health allowed him to do so, including The AlHussainy Mosque. [3]
